An apartment can make an impression in minutes. Understanding its neighbourhood takes more attention. Try assessing a location through an ordinary weekday, as well as through the view from the window.

Start with your daily journeys

List the places you will visit regularly: your workplace, school, nursery, sports activities and meetings. Consider the time of day and how you normally travel.

Check a route at the time you would actually use it. Distance on a map alone does not tell you how comfortable the journey will feel.

Separate existing amenities from future plans

Look at what is available today: shops, parks, walking routes, medical facilities and schools. Assess planned facilities separately.

If a particular amenity matters by a certain date, confirm its status and timeline. Decisions are easier when the existing setting and future plans remain distinct.

Visit at different times

Daytime and evening visits can give different impressions. Pay attention to lighting, noise, parking, traffic and activity around the building.

Walk the route you expect to use: from the entrance to a shop, café or park. This helps you understand distances and how convenient the surroundings really are.

Use the same comparison criteria

Choose a few criteria and apply them consistently: daily routes, amenities, building types, density, walking and the details of each building. Record your observations after each visit.

There is no single best neighbourhood. There is a place that fits your habits, budget and planning horizon. That is what your property search should focus on.
